Have to know it to feel it

It is only when you've pained, can you feel the fear of pain.
It is only when you've loved, can you feel the emotion of hate.
It is only when you've failed, can you feel gratitude of success.
It is only when you've fallen, can you feel the hunger to rise.
It is only when you've lost, can you feel the ability to release.
It is only when you've disappointed, can you feel the stress of uncertainty.

It is only when you've experienced, can you really understand what it truly means.

hmm... makes me think. for me, it's rather "have to feel it to know it". like your last sentence - "it is only when you've experienced, can you really understand what it truly means."
i think many of us are afraid to feel. at least, afraid to feel too much, to be overwhelmed by emotion. (maybe 'cos emotions are very personal? or maybe we think we are not ready to deal with it or don't really know how to handle it..)
anyway, sometimes we "protect" ourselves by not feeling. but other times we want so much to know, yet there is not yet an opportunity to feel it. it's like you don't know what is pain until you feel pain - people who have never felt pain will never understand what pain is or what it means when something is said to be painful or that something hurts...
i guess people don't really talk about emotional stuff 'cos talking about it will bring emotions back, and it's also not easy for someone to empathise cos that person will also have to feel those emotions, and i think not many people can do that or are willing to do that. especially in these days, this world. sadly but practically and realistically.
