The Only Jesus

A little song that reminds me how quick we are at judging people all the time, especially those many perceive as 'dirty', 'dangerous', 'suspicious', 'good-for-nothing' etc.

He stumbled in the Quik Stop, scared us all to death
When he cursed at me for staring, smelt the liquor on his breath
As I felt my anger rising, you know the thought occurred to me,
I might be the only Jesus he will ever see

So I turned to him and smiled, yes he thought that I was strange
When I said I'll pray for you, and offered him some change
I couldn't help but wonder, as he stared back at me
I might be the only Jesus he will ever see.

And who am I to judge him, don't know what he's been through
If I read the Bible right, it's only something God can do.
If I can help him out of darkness, let him see the light in me,
I might be the only Jesus he will ever see.

I went back outside to the car, with my wife and kids
I felt like we were followed, turned around and it was him
Though he didn't say a word, oh it really got to me..
..when he looked at me and smiled...
